How to Choose a Thermal Camera Core

Selecting a thermal camera core is easier when you separate detector performance, interfaces and mechanical constraints.

1. Resolution and lens

640×512 is a common mid-to-high resolution for clear target identification. Match the lens to your field of view; a narrow lens sees farther, while a wide lens covers more area.

2. Sensitivity

Look at NETD. A lower value means the camera can distinguish smaller temperature differences. Our cores specify ≤40 mK.

3. Interface

Choose CVBS for analog displays and simple capture, or a model with USB 2.0 and UART when your product needs digital video and software control.

4. Power and size

Confirm voltage range, power budget and dimensions. The JM611A1C is ≤63 g; the JM609A1C is ≤30 g, which helps battery and handheld products.

5. Environment

Check operating temperature, storage humidity, vibration and shock ratings against your deployment environment.
